Moved by Need & Nature

Gilded Willow is founded on the desire to help others.

A portion of the proceeds from each item sold will be donated to a nonprofit helping children who need emotional support and children in poverty.

We recognize caring for young lives in unfortunate circumstances makes such a long-term impact, and creates a culture of compassion that leads to positive change through generations.

In addition, this is a great opportunity to be another resource for people to learn about how we can be responsible environmental stewards by working in harmony with harvesting herbs and plants ethically. On that note, it’s a priority for us to invest in sustainable, recyclable, and reusable materials for our products and our packaging to be a positive influence.

This collective gives fellow small businesses another voice advocating for their work, as well as an additional avenue for the community to discover them. Our artisans are based all over the United States with expertise in traditional and contemporary methods of crafting each piece.

Every Gilded Willow piece has a history — from the relationship with the artisan, to the life of the one who receives it. We design and choose each of our collections with the intention to be passed down through generations, with minimal waste and carbon footprint.

CGC was founded in 2001 by a small group of community members who had experienced untimely deaths in their families. When these families sought grief support services for their surviving children, they realized there was no organization specializing in helping bereaved youth; thus, the Children’s Grief Center of New Mexico began. Based on the model of the Dougy Center in Portland, Oregon, (founded in 1982), The Children’s Grief Center of New Mexico began providing free support groups for grieving children and their families.

Originally, CGC was entirely volunteer-led until receiving a grant to hire its first staff person in 2005. In 2007, CGC began providing support groups in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. In 2011, the CGC co-located with All Faiths, another Albuquerque nonprofit organization, and moved into a 3.5 acre facility. This new home allowed the CGC to increase the frequency of peer bereavement support groups to serve more children and families. In 2013 they started Camp Corazón. Since that time, the CGC has grown exponentially: serving hundreds of grieving families annually, with a small staff, and a corps of over 100 volunteers. Needing more space to serve more people and offer new programs to meet growing needs, CGC moved into its permanent home in December 2020 – the Center for Hope and Healing – located in Albuquerque!

They are also offering several trainings to Educators, First Responders, Mental Health Professionals and Medical Staff on various topics of children’s grief and traumatized populations. Over the past 20 years, CGC has grown to be Central New Mexico’s foremost expert on providing effective support to mitigate family grief.
